Savannah State University


    Situation: People thought they knew Savannah State. But they were wrong. Georgia's oldest, public Historically Black University is a smart, bold, proud institution with phenomenal stories, startling stats, and innovative programs. It needed a new brand platform to let its light shine and become known as undeniably, seriously impressive.

    Solution: The brand platform we created for Savannah State had to be bold and confident. The University needed to own orange in Georgia – boldly, authoritatively, and totally. The new logo we created capitalizes on the University's impressive Savannah location, and the new tagline challenges viewers to take another look. TV spots reintroduced the University to its hometown and beyond. And an aggressive media campaign, including print and online advertising, radio, and billboards directed people to a digital experience built to showcase SSU’s impressive stories, videos, and photos.

    Results: The campaign earned a Communicator Award of Excellence and a Gold Education Digital Marketing award for social media strategy. Since it launched, the University has seen a rather impressive response rate to its digital advertising, the television spots have been the talk of the town, and alums are swelling with pride.
